How to make carbonated homemade kvass in 4 hours
Store-bought sodas are not the best drinks for health, as they cause stomach irritation, not to mention harm to the kidneys. It is much safer and healthier to quench your thirst with homemade kvass. To prepare it, it is not necessary to dry rye crackers, as there is a simpler, quick recipe.
Ingredients:
- Water – 5 l;
- sugar – 0.5 kg;
- chicory powder – 1.5 tbsp;
- pressed yeast – 10-15 g;
- citric acid – 1 tbsp.
The process of making kvass
In a liter glass jar, add sugar, chicory and yeast according to the recipe.
They are poured with warm water and mixed.
Leave the starter in a warm place for half an hour.
After 30 minutes, you need to pour the starter into water heated to +35°C. The total volume of the drink should be 5 liters.
A tablespoon of citric acid is added to it.
Kvass should be fermented in a warm place for another 4 hours.
It is then bottled. To increase the sharpness of the taste, you can throw several raisins into each of them. After cooling in the refrigerator, the drink is ready to drink. It is optimal to drink it the next day.
