An excellent addition to any meat and fish dish: Instant pickled onions
Pickled onions turn out very tasty, without bitterness at all, with a slight sourness. At the same time, it retains its crispy structure. It can be used to prepare salads, served with meat, fish and first courses. It goes especially well with potatoes and herring sandwiches. It is prepared very quickly and simply, the total cooking time is 20 minutes.
Ingredients:
- Onion – 2 small onions or 1 large one.
- Water – 4 tablespoons.
- Sugar – 1 teaspoon.
- Vinegar 9% – 1 teaspoon.
- Lemon – 1 slice.
- Vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon.
Quickly marinate onions
1. Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can take any type of onion, both red and white.
2. Peel and wash the onion. Cut into rings or half rings depending on the size of the onion. Place in a deep plate or jar.
3. Sprinkle with sugar and stir so that the sugar is evenly distributed. We remove the rings from each other so that the marinating process goes faster.
4. For the marinade, mix warm boiled water with vinegar.If the onion is bitter, it is better to use boiling water instead of warm water. Pour the marinade over the rings, stir, cover with a plate or lid and leave for 15 minutes. After this time, the onion can already be eaten, but for a richer taste it is advisable to wait 1 hour. After the water has cooled completely, transfer it to the refrigerator.
5. Place on a plate, after draining excess liquid. Sprinkle with lemon juice and pour over vegetable oil. You can decorate the top with fresh herbs if desired. Instant pickled onions are ready. It should be stored in the refrigerator, but it is advisable to cook it immediately before use.
