How to make a press for quickly rolling out dough without welding

It takes a lot of time to thinly roll out the dough for pita bread, tortilla or pizza, and your hands fall off after a couple of dozen pieces. In large industries, this is done not with a rolling pin, but with a hydraulic press, squeezing the dough ball into a thin, perfectly round pancake. At home, you can make something similar to such a machine, but with a mechanical drive.

Press manufacturing process

It is necessary to cut, sharpen and polish 2 discs from thick-walled sheet steel.

Their diameter should be no less than the dough pancakes that are planned to be produced.

In the first disk you need to drill 6 holes and tap them. Of these, 4 must form a square in order to install the legs in them, and 2 are made opposite to attach the compression mechanism.

A blank is cut from the strip 10 cm longer than the diameter of the disk. 4 holes are drilled in it.Of these, 2 large ones are made along the edges, and 2 should coincide with the mounting holes in the disk. The latter are threaded.

The strip and disk are twisted together. Then the legs are installed on the disk.

They can be carved from plastic or wood.

The protruding part of the bolts on the reverse side must be cut flush.

Sections of threaded rods are clamped into the outer holes of the strip with nuts. The nuts must be tightened so that they do not turn.

In the second disk, 2 holes are drilled for fastening, as in the previous one.

Then the same blank is cut from the strip. It is necessary to make similar holes in it. In addition to them, you also need to drill the workpiece in the center and make a hole with an indentation of 20 mm in both directions. All holes, except the outer ones for the studs and the central one, are threaded.

The disk and strip are tightened with bolts. The protruding part of the thread is cut flush. Then the part is put on the studs.

A third similar blank is cut from the strip. Holes for studs are drilled along the edges. The hole in the center for the clamping screw is also visible. It is threaded. The strip must be clamped at the top of the studs with nuts.

To make a screw you will need a piece of a pin. At the edge it is machined under a strip stopper.

To make its handle, you need to cut a strip and drill along the edges. One hole is threaded. A bolt is screwed into it, which will serve as a handle. The handle is then clamped onto the edge of the screw.

The screw is tightened into the press.

To connect it to the upper disk, you need to make a stopper from a piece of strip. 2 holes are drilled in it to screw to the top disk strip. A central hole with a slot is also made to fix the stopper on the screw groove.After this, the part is screwed into place.

Thus, we obtain a completely collapsible screw press. After disinfestation, it can be used for its intended purpose. The dough is formed into a ball, placed in a film envelope, and placed in the center of the press. Once compressed, it turns into a thin pancake. The dough does not come into direct contact with the metal.
