Shortbread cookies “Through a meat grinder”
Oddly enough, this cookie does not have its own name. Mostly they are simply called “Through a Meat Grinder” cookie.
Of course, you can form the dough into a different shape, but it will not be the same cookie. Indeed, in addition to the wonderful taste, it gives many tender memories of distant childhood. After all, this delicacy was widespread in post-Soviet times.
1. Sift the flour and add half a teaspoon of baking soda and a pinch of salt.
2. Mix flour, baking soda and salt thoroughly.
3. Let's start combining granulated sugar, vanilla sugar and butter.
4. Grind the butter and sugar until smooth.
5. Gradually add eggs to sugar and butter.
They mixed one thing, only then another.
6. Beat this mixture with a mixer until light foam.
7.Pour the previously prepared mixture of flour, soda and salt into the whipped mixture of sugar and eggs.
8. Knead the dough for 5 minutes.
9. Place the dough in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes so that the butter hardens and stops flowing.
During this time you should preheat the oven to 180-190°C.
10. After the allotted time has passed, roll the dough through a meat grinder.
11. Form the cookies and place them on a baking sheet, on which you need to lay parchment paper in advance for baking.
12. Bake cookies at 180-190°C for 15-20 minutes.
Cookies “Through a meat grinder” are ready.
It tasted the way my grandmother prepared it when baking cookies in an old Russian oven: tender and crumbly.
